Cornerstone

Nine years ago I planted these Japanese maples in our front yard. They were nothing more than twigs at that time. Through meticulous care, cultivation and pruning, they Are becoming the sentinels of our front yard landscape.

Patients

Jameson knows that if he sits in the wagon long enough somebody will pick up the handle and make the rocket ship fly.

Childhood Friends

Jessie, Tina and me became a family when Jessie was 10. We settled into a quiet neighborhood in North Sacramento where she met her childhood friend Jessica Simonson. The two remained close friends all the way through high school and beyond. As life would have it they found their soulmates and started their families. Oddly enough they were both pregnant at same time and gave birth on the exact same day. Pictured here are Jessie's twins Jocelyn and Jasper and in the middle is Jessica's baby Spencer.

Mixed Emotions

Jace is busy mixing up the waffle batter for our Sunday brunch. In his hand is the same Sunbeam mixer that my grandmother used when making her famous chocolate birthday cakes. He is such a big helper! Old memories and new memories blend up well.

Spring Training

Some years ago my teammate and I travel to Arizona in the Spring to watch the Giants in some spring-training action. When we got home from our trip, we planted this tree in our backyard. The tree is beautiful in Spring and it always reminds me of that wonderful vacation.

Spring is in the air

Walter has a new spring in his step and our Japanese maples are waking up! Just look at Walter's eyes! They speak volumes. "I'm fine! No more visits to the vet! I'm fine....really...good to go!"

Fruity extravaganza

Our two oldest grandsons love fruit. On Sunday we had the whole family over for Sunday brunch. I built the boys their very own volcano of fruit!  Later I'm sure they built their own natural volcanos!

Rare White Heron

On Sunday Tina and I made a 14 mile walk up through the hills of Lincoln Del Webb. On our walk we saw this beautiful Rare White Heron. Then again it could've just been a white goose or over-developed Dove. Love our walks! Love my sweetheart!

Cool Find

I found this very cool framed picture at a garage sale in Sun City Lincoln Hills today. The picture appears to have been taken back in the 40s or 50s in San Francisco at some sort of running event. The runners name is Lou Pinache. The lady at the garage sale said the man holding the finishers tape was the mayor of San Francisco. But I have some doubts about that. It appears that Lou is running barefooted. Notice on his T-shirt that he is advertising for Maher's paint. It's an actual company that I think still exists today in Ohio. The lady at the sale wanted five dollars for the picture. I gave her the single dollar I had in my wallet and all the change my pocket which amounted to about $2.35. To me it is priceless and I look forward to hanging it up in my new office. When I told the lady at the sale what I planned to do with the picture she told me the picture had hung in her husband's office for many years as well. So the tradition continues.

Me and Flo

We started together at the post office nearly 27 years ago. At age 64 she decided it was time to take the VER. Going to miss you Flo.
